Thinking On Podcasting



All of the information up until this point has been to help you get more familiar with podcasting history and know which tools will be needed to produce your very first podcast. Now it is time to move into discussion about how to create your very first podcast. This will start podcasting concept layout.

Remember that there are several different kinds of formats that can be used in a podcast. If you remember this, you'll remember that there are educational formats, interview formats, or simply informative formats. In addition, there can also be one podcaster or multiple podcasters and a podcast can cover a single topic, do a focus on a specific topic for a period of time, or can change topics as long as the material remains relevant to specific area.

If you feel comfortable interviewing other people, it may be a good place to start in your new podcasts. Interviewing other people can help easily gain you a listener base as people are more likely to be interested in the person you're interviewing and there is less work for you to have to take care of when compiling your first podcast. However, you may feel more comfortable doing a podcast where it is just you for the very first time.

Aside from him deciding upon a particular podcasting format, podcasters must consider how they are going to record their podcast. Most podcasters like to set something up called a 'green room'. This type of space is enclosed way a podcaster it can record and his or her podcast without the fear of being interrupted. The room is generally quiet, removed, and private. It is a place for the podcaster will feel safe and comfortable. This quiet room should also help the podcaster keep out unwanted noise and sound from the podcast itself. The focus should be on what the podcaster is saying not what is going on in the background.


Before sitting down for a long podcasting session, many podcasters like to prepare their room for the long stay. This may mean gathering some snacks and plenty of liquids so that he or she does not have to leave the room until the podcast is complete. It is very important to remember to have plenty of water before starting a podcasting session as your throat can easily become dry and scratchy which will affect your overall production.
