Podcasting, including the use of the enclosure tag, started approximately five years ago. When people started using them in blogs and throughout the Webmaster world, the enclosure tag gained in popularity. Many people saw the disadvantage of relying on text content or audio content and quickly learned the advantages of the audio and visual combination that podcasting offers. Podcasting was commonly considered the next step to blogs.
