Pioneer of Podcasting Adam Podfather Curry
Around the time that Curry started to podcast, only a few hundred people were broadcasting on the Internet through this medium. However, his promotion of podcasting, help from the RSS auto-syndication programmer Dave Winer, and the desire to promote throughout the Internet from both Curry and Winer all helped make this format and its auto sync features popular throughout the world. In the 2000s, Curry was heavily involved in much of the promotion of podcasting and currently runs a podcast that he and others promote entitled 'The Daily Source Code'. Even though he did not create podcasting software, he was the first person to have a successful podcasting broadcast. Curry is known throughout the podcasting world. He was also one of the people to meet at the 2004 BloggerCon, which was held at Stanford University. This is where he earned his nickname of 'the Podfather' many of the media outlets present at the BloggerCon started using this nickname when referring to Curry due to his role in getting podcasting off the ground. Most podcasters recognize that, without the exposure Curry was able to bring to podcasting, it would not be as strong or as large of a podcasting community as it is today. Aside from his work with podcasting, Curry is a certified pilot and often flies his own Cessna 182 to various places in the world. He is happily married to a famous Dutch singer named Patricia Pay who was quite famous in the Netherlands in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, particularly for her involvement in common radio commercials and jingles. She was also well known for being one of the very first glamor models on the Dutch issue of Playboy. Paay and Curry have one daughter named Christina.
