How To Podcast

More Uses Of Podcasting In Public Services

News relay podcasting is something that many small and large news companies have begun to take part in. This is where a news station - either radio or television - will record their entire broadcast and put it into a podcast format, again giving people the opportunity to listen at their own leisure, rather than on a pre-determined schedule.

This practice has given a lot of success to daytime radio hosts. If a program is being aired during normal business hours, many potential listeners do not have the opportunity to listen, but through the use of podcasting they can. Radio re-broadcasting makes up the largest portion of 'paid to listen' or 'pay to subscribe' podcasts. By eliminating the need for radio ads, the radio personalities are not interrupted periodically by commercials.

A great thing that has been provided through podcasting is the freedom to broadcast what the listener would like to hear. The Internet has shown time and time again that there is real power in niche marketing. This niche-marketing tactic is the source of many broadcasters' success with podcasting. An example of niche podcasting is the broadcasting of nutritional health information. This is one of the most popular topics, providing people with the knowledge they are seeking without the research.

Nutritional podcasts ranging from diet how-to guides to regular sleeping habits represent the largest listened to segment. Living in a world that is trying to prolong life, decrease suffering, and increase the standard of day-to-day living, it is no surprise that there is great success in medical related pod casts. This type of podcast is not for every future broadcaster; it is necessary to do your homework first and take part in as must study as possible. If you are trying to do a medical or nutritional related podcast, your future audience will depend on it.

Public service agencies have even employed the use of podcasting. Through the use of pre-recorded tours and guides many national parks offer audible information regarding their history and any other facts pertaining to a vacation or hiking expedition. But even more recent and possibly even more surprising is that libraries throughout the world are now beginning to provide recorded books and articles through podcasts. The recorded media provided by the libraries offers people that are either incapable or visually impaired the ability to listen to many of the books or articles that are not other wise available to them. This recent practice is often done as a public service and at no charge to the beneficiary.

Podcasting has also been used by government agencies to alert the public to specific items, such as weather reports or even criminal investigations. Through the use of podcasting the government has been able to easily provide information to those unable to read or to the visually impaired. This type of medium, either through the use of public announcement or for more entertainment related items, provides worldwide access to local broadcasting.
